NIGERIA: Gunmen on rampage, kill Moses Gwom, ex-Plateau SSG, injure 12 others

From SULE YAKUBU (Jos) -The police in Plateau state, North-Central Nigeria,  on Wednesday, confirmed the death of Moses Gwom, a former Secretary to the Plateau State Government (SSG).

The police said the former SSG was killed by gunmen who attacked his residence. During the attack, which the police said occurred at about 9pm on‎ ‎Tuesday, October 10, the gunmen also injured 12 others.

Terna Tyopev, the spokesperson for the command who confirmed the incident said: “Unknown gunmen attacked and killed one Moses Gwom, at his residence in Barkin ladi. His house is located opposite STF checkpoint, 12 others were injured during the attack.”

The gunmen were said to have also attacked security operatives at the checkpoint before wrecking havoc on the residence of late official, according to a Premium Times report.

The police spokesperson said that no arrest had been made, but security operatives are on the trail of the suspects.

Just last month (September 7), at least 19 people were reported killed  following an overnight attack in Ancha, Miango village, Bassa Local Government of the state.

Youth Leader of Ancha Miango Village, Mr. David Chinge who had confirmed the attack to newsmen, said the attack was carried out by unknown armed men who equally left many wounded in the night.

According to him, ” The attack, Thursday night lasted hours.”

DSP Tyopev, had also confirmed the attack, saying, “I’m at the scene of the incident now, will get back to Journalist when we are back from the scene.”
