Tinubu removes Solomon Arase as Police Service Commission Chairman, appoints replacement

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Hashimu Argungu, a retired police officer, as the chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

He will be replacing Solomon Arase who has just been removed from the position.

Presidential Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale,

announced the appointment in a statement released on Monday.

Ngelale also revealed that Tinubu also approved the appointment of Onyemuche Nnamani as the Secretary and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) as Member of the Commission.

According to him, the appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate, adding that other members of the Police Service Commission will be appointed in due course.

“Furthermore, the President has approved the appointment of Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) with immediate effect.

The President expects absolute demonstration of integrity, diligence, and patriotic zeal in the discharge of these important functions for the overall wellbeing of the Nigeria Police and the nation,” the statement partly read.
