Rep. Zubairu disburses N10.94m as scholarship grants to 297 students in Zamfara

Rep. Abdulmalik Zubairu (APC-Zamfara) has distributed N 10.94 million as scholarship grants to 297 undergraduates, NCE and Polytechnic students from his constituency.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Zubairu represents Bungudu and Maru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Speaking at the cash disbursement exercise to the beneficiaries in Bungudu on Sunday, Zubairu said the gesture was part of his intervention to support education in the constituency.

Zubairu, represented by his Special Assistant, Jamilu Umar, said the beneficiaries included 41 students from Sokoto State University, 35 students from Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero and 53 students from the Federal Polytechnic Kaura-Namoda.

He said other beneficiaries were 126 NCE students studying at the Distance Learning Centre in Bungudu town and 13 physically-challenged students from Bungudu constituency.

“All the above listed beneficiaries received N30,000 each.

“Other categories of the beneficiaries were 29 undergraduate law students from the state studying in various institutions who received N100,000 each.” the lawmaker explained.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Sakina Haruna, a 400-level student described the gesture as a welcome development.

“On behalf of the entire beneficiaries, we extend our gratitude to the lawmaker for his kind gesture.

“This will reduce the economic hardship being faced by us, especially in paying school fees and other students’ expenses,” Haruna added.
