President Muhammadu Buhari has made five fresh appointments into the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
In a letter to the National Assembly on Wednesday, the president urged the Senate to confirm the five people as non-executive directors of the board of the nation’s apex bank.
The president’s request was disclosed on the floor of the Senate by Senator Ahmad Lawan when he said in a motion: “That the Senate do consider the request of Mr President and C-n-C for the confirmation of nomination of the following persons for appointment as non-executive directors of the board of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).”
Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio seconded that the Upper House do consider the request of President Buhari for the confirmation of nomination of the above persons for appointment as non-executive directors of the board of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in accordance with Sections 6(1) (d) and 10(1) and (2) of the CBN Act, 2007..
The five nominees are:
- Professor Ummu Ahmed Jalingo (North-East)
- Professor Justina Odinakachukwu Nnabuko (South-East)
- Professor Mike I. Obadan (South-South)
- Dr. Abdu Abubakar (North-West)
- Adeola Adetunji (South-West)
