Next Man Utd manager odds: Shock name is favourite to replace Erik ten Hag as ‘contact made’ with alternative

Odds on who could potentially replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United have been revealed following the club’s almighty scare against Coventry City in the FA Cup.

Man United squandered a three-goal lead at Wembley Stadium and had VAR to thank for as they beat Coventry on penalties to set up a showdown against Manchester City.

The Red Devils advanced to the final after beating the Championship side 4-2 on penalties, with only three players celebrating the win.

Despite securing a spot in the FA Cup final, pressure is mounting on Ten Hag, who has been tipped to be sacked at the end of the season.

That’s according to Jamie Carragher, who said: “We were watching at the end there and Mark Robins famously kept a Manchester United manager [Sir Alex Ferguson] in a job. I think that result there has cost a United manager his job. I don’t see how he stays, I don’t.”

The Liverpool legend added: “Performance after performance… And I would imagine that dressing room is probably the most embarrassed dressing room you could probably remember of a team that’s won. They’re probably all just sat there looking at each other. It’s a good job they didn’t celebrate.

“If you were at the top at Manchester United, what is it about the situation watching this team, the manager and his personality that would be making you think he’s taking us forward next season?”

Amid speculation regarding Ten Hag’s position at Man United, a shock name is the favourite to replace the Dutchman, according to the bookmakers.

According to Sky Bet, Gareth Southgate is odds-on to take over from the 54-year-old, ahead of Graham Potter, who has been out of work since his Chelsea dismissal.

Thomas Tuchel is also in the running, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly contacting the Bayern Munich manager.

Roberto De Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann, Zinedine Zidane, Thiago Motta, Unai Emery, Julen Lopetegui and Kieran McKenna are among the other managers backed to replace Ten Hag.
