Mozambique’s prominent writer Mia Couto had tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) with mild symptoms and extreme tiredness, the national Radio Mocambique (RM) reported on Wednesday.
“I tested positive for COVID-19, five or six days ago, I have mild symptoms, but I feel extreme fatigue and some permanent body pain.
“I hope my situation is not serious. I remain at home, confined, isolated,” said 66-year-old Mia Couto, in an interview with a local television on Tuesday night, quoted by RM on Wednesday.
The Camoes Prize winner called on all citizens to comply with the preventive measures and form a common front against COVID-19.
“There are not, as the President of the Republic Filipe Nyusi said, those who are most vulnerable and those who are not vulnerable, there are no people who are safe from the disease,” said Couto.
“The more we take precautions, the more we know that this is a task for all of us, the faster we can get rid of this nightmare,” he was quoted as saying. (Xinhua/NAN)
