Michelle Obama’s mother, Marian Robinson, has died at the age of 86 as announced by the Obama family.
Michelle shared her grief on her X account, describing her mother as her rock and a steady support for the family.
She wrote, “My mom, Marian Robinson, was my rock, always there for whatever I needed. She was the same steady backstop for our entire family, and we are heartbroken to share that she passed away today. We wanted to offer some reflections on her remarkable life.”
Barack Obama also wrote, “There was and will be only one Marian Robinson. In our sadness, we are lifted up by the extraordinary gift of her life. And we will spend the rest of ours trying to live up to her example.”
The family statement disclosed that Robinson died peacefully on Friday morning.
During the eight years of Barack Obama’s presidency, Robinson was a prominent figure at the White House, where she played a significant role in taking care of her granddaughters, Malia and Sasha.
