African leaders confirm possible visit to Russia, Ukraine in mid-June

Office of the President of South Africa on Tuesday said the leaders of several African
countries have confirmed the possibility of their visit to Russia and Ukraine in mid-June.

In a statement, the president’s office said this was a part of some efforts put together to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

Earlier in the day, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa held a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, Lenegalese President Macky Sall, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema and the Chairperson of African Union, Azali Assoumani.

In addition, the leaders of a number of African countries agreed to cooperate with Moscow and Kiev on a ceasefire
in Ukraine.

The statement added that the African leaders well as instructed foreign ministers to finalise the elements of
a settlement plan on the conflict in Ukraine. (Sputnik/NAN)
