Meshak was allegedly killed by his friend in the Jabi area of the territory.

It was learnt that a man identified as Madgit Maren allegedly stabbed Meshak while fighting over a phone charger at Jabi.

A police officer was said to have shown up at the scene to rescue Meshak and take him to the hospital.

Madgit was subsequently arrested and taken to Jabi-Dakibiyu police post.

However, when Meshak’s family were alerted that the victim had died in the hospital, they reportedly mobilised some youths and went to the station to demand that Madgit should be released to them.

The police reportedly informed the youths that the Madgit had been transferred to the Life Camp Police Division for proper investigation.

Not satisfied with the news, the youths destroyed the cars parked outside the police post with sticks, stones, and other dangerous objects, which resulted in a clash between the mob and law enforcement officers.

A source told SaharaReporters that the youths got angry because they believed that the police had freed the suspect.
