Zambian Vice President Inonge Wina said on Friday that 58 out of the country’s 116 districts were likely to face floods during the current rain season.
The Zambian vice president said weather systems have shown a high likelihood of floods because of increased rainfall patterns.
The vice president said this while speaking during question and answer session in parliament in Lusaka.
She said that the floods would have devastating effects on communities, a situation that will result in the provision of relief foods as rains will affect crop harvests.
The government, she said, has since started taking necessary measures to address the projected hunger situation in areas that will be affected.
Zambia has experienced heavy rains during the current season, with floods already experienced in some areas while some infrastructure has been damaged. (Xinhua/NAN)
