Ugandan government departments and agencies have begun requiring proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, before permitting entrance to their facilities.

The National Medical Stores (NMS) announced on Friday that all employees and visitors must present confirmation of complete immunization before entering their facility.

The initiative is in line with a government instruction to get people vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to completely restore the economy, according to the report.

Staff and visitors who have not yet been vaccinated should give a negative COVID-19 PCR test result within 72 hours, according to the NMS.

The health ministry said it will follow the NMS’s lead and issue an order soon to ensure that no employees or visitors are harmed.

“We have given some grace period for those not yet vaccinated to do so,” Emmanuel Ainebyoona, spokesperson of the ministry, tweeted.

The NMS said the country has so far received about 5.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines and about 2.4 million doses have been administered nationwide.
