UEFA is tripling the prize money for teams at the Women’s European Championships to 16 million euros (18.8 million dollars) ahead of next year’s edition in England.

UEFA’s executive committee decided on a new distribution scheme the day before in Chisinau, Moldova, according to a statement released on Thursday.

The prize money for the 2017 European Championships in the Netherlands was eight million euros.

“The financial distribution for the group stage will include increased guaranteed amounts and performance-based bonuses,” UEFA said, adding that more information will be released “in the coming days.”

UEFA also said the women’s clubs releasing players for the European Championships would for the first time receive a total of 4.5 million euros.

It said this was “to reward European clubs releasing players for the women’s Euro final tournament for their contribution to the success of the event.”
