Terrible’ PSG star ruthlessly slammed by Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves after Dortmund defeat

Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves both agreed on the same Paris Saint-Germain star having a ‘terrible’ match against Borussia Dortmund.

PSG suffered a crushing elimination from the Champions League following their 2-0 aggregate defeat to Dortmund, creating an unwanted record in the process.

Mats Hummels headed home the only goal of the game on Tuesday to record a big win in Paris.

The French giants failed to score in either semi-final leg as they go another season without the prestigious Champions League trophy.

Luis Enrique’s team had chances but the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Goncalo Ramos were unable to find the back of the net.

After the result, Ferdinand thought Mbappe had a quiet tie before savagely taking aim at Ousmane Dembele.

Hargreaves hit out at Dembele’s showing at the Parc des Princes while the former Man United defender branded his outing ‘terrible’ in a damning assessment.

On TNT Sport, Ferdinand said: “I thought he was really quiet over the two legs. Dortmund handled him really well. This is unusual for Mbappe, we’re used to seeing him stepping up in the biggest moments and in the biggest games.

“All through his career he’s stepped up but he was subdued over the two legs.

“He wasn’t decisive, he wasn’t clinical. But you need to give Dortmund massive credit because they never allowed him to get one on one. I think more credit has to go to the team in yellow because Dortmund and the manager deserve so much credit.”

The former Bayern Munich midfielder then chipped in, saying: “How poor was Dembele today?”

To which Ferdinand replied: “He was terrible.”

Dembele, who scored a goal in each clash against Barcelona in the previous round, was guilty of spurning one of PSG’s best chances against Dortmund in the first-half.

He played the full game but was unable to inspire his side to the final.
