Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has promised that if elected president next year, he would use education to discourage children in the North-East from being recruited by insurgent groups.

Tambuwal made the pledge in Maiduguri on Wednesday, while addressing delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in furtherance of his campaign for the party’s presidential ticket.

He also promised to take urgent steps to stop the Lake Chad basin from further shrinking.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives urged delegates to choose a candidate that is capable of winning the presidency next year, as the party holds its presidential primary election on October 6th.

He assured them that if elected president, he would return peace and prosperity to the north east region.
