Senator Natasha condemns renewed attacks in Kogi, seeks IGP intervention

Lawmaker representing Kogi Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has condemned the recent violent attacks in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi, where at least 19 people have lost their lives.

She equally called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to take immediate action to restore normalcy to the troubled communities.

Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan also offered her condolences to the families of those who have lost their loved ones as a result of the crisis, while calling for a thorough investigation into the remote causes of the crisis that led to the unwarranted killing of innocent citizens.

The lawmaker in a statement by her Chief Press Secretary, Mr Israel Arogbonlo, emphasised the need for the security agencies to go after the masterminds of the heinous crime.

Furthermore, the senator called on both the state and federal governments to intervene immediately to prevent any further escalation of the crisis, while urging the security agencies to use intelligence in the pursuit of the perpetrators of the heinous act.

Finally, she advised the people of the community to join forces with the police to identify the criminals and bring them to justice.

It be recalled the violent attacks occurred in two communities, Agojeju Odo and Abejukolo in Omala LGA of the State on Thursday, April 4.

The gunmen, who were having a running battle with Agatu militia in Benue, extended their onslaught to Agojeju Odo, Ajokpachi Odo, Bagaji and environs, destroying their farm produce.
