Senator-elect, Ali Ndume commends people of Borno South Constituency

Senator-Elect, Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has expressed gratitude to the people of his constituency for reposing confidence in him through their votes in the Saturday elections.

Senator Ndume said he will sustain the delivery of dividends of democracy, even as he extended an olive branch to his opponents who could not make it.

He stated this in an interactive session with journalists in Miaduguri on Thursday.

The lawmaker, further, sympathized with the Borno State Government and the traders affected by the recent fire disaster at the Maiduguri Monday Market on Sunday morning.

He promised to come up with a motion at the floor of the senate and seek support of his colleagues as well as mobilize and influence African Development Bank in to assisting the victims of the market fire disaster in order to cushion their loss and hardship.

Senator Ndume also pledged to improve on his service to his senatorial district while appealing for understanding and forgiveness among political rivals.

Senator Ndume also decried the recent Boko Haram attack in his hometown, Gwoza, on election day, which scared many voters away, who couldn’t return to the queue to cast their votes even the next day when the timing was rescheduled.

He said only about 20,000 out of the 137,000 registered voters, where able to cast their votes in the last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

The lawmaker, further, commended the efforts and bravery of the Nigerian military for repelling the terrorists’ attack.
