National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Cross River State chapter has demanded immediate resignation of its state President, Comrade Mike Egre over poor handling of the affairs of the association.

They also demanded for the immediate constitution of transition committee that will help in the conduct of the association free and fair elections.

The stakeholders stated that the tenure of incumbent Chairman whom they have lost confidence had since elapsed in May 2023.

The association’s stakeholders made this known in a position paper made available to our Correspondent by the association stakeholders in Càlabar yesterday.

The position paper signed by five stakeholders, who includes the representative of of Ogoja Zone, Elder Ignatius Ejim, representative of Ikom LGA, Dr. Ramsey Ndep, representative of Càlabar zone, Elder Edet Obot, Secretary General NAPPS, South South Tchr. Mike Abolade, and others demanded Egre’s resignation.

The Stakeholders also demanded for a detailed statement of account from the association’s state president, Hon..Mike Egre, and their financial secretary, Pastor Abraham Osok, explaining how funds of the association were spent throughout the 9 years in office.

The Stakeholders who expressed their displeasure over the manner in which the SECOM Chairman managed affairs of the association regarding elections issues, called for review of present zoning formula before state elections are conducted.

“That we lack total confidence in the members of State Electoral Commission (SECOM), as we have seen the embattled Chairman of SECOM openly campaigning for some candidates” the statement added.

Expressing their grievances, the association’s stakeholders said it was unconstitutional and unacceptable that some members of their electoral body (SECOM), who participated in the conduct of chapter elections across the state to have resigned.

Reacting to the issue in a telephone conversation, the embattled president of the association Cross River chapter Hon. Mike Egre, denied any wrong doing, stressing that his tenure is supposed to elapsed in March this year but as a gentleman he is ready to quit before that time.

“All those who signed that document are not out members. I know my members they are all hired to fight me”, he maintained.
