Overview:

  • As a Speakers Research Officer / Curation Officer, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our TEDx conference by identifying, researching, and curating exceptional speakers who will inspire, educate, and entertain our audience.
  • You will be responsible for conducting extensive research to identify potential speakers, evaluating their suitability for our event, and managing the speaker curation process from initial contact through to final selection.
  • This role requires a keen eye for talent, excellent research skills, and the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals.

Responsibilities:

Research and Identification:

  •  Conduct in-depth research to identify potential speakers across various fields, including but not limited to technology, entertainment, design, science, arts, and culture.
  •  Utilize online resources, academic databases, industry publications, and other sources to compile a comprehensive list of potential speakers.
  •  Keep abreast of current events, trends, and emerging topics to identify relevant and timely speakers.

Evaluation and Selection:

  •  Assess the expertise, credibility, and speaking abilities of potential speakers to ensure alignment with the theme and goals of the TEDx conference.
  •  Collaborate with the organizing team to establish criteria for speaker selection and contribute insights to the decision-making process.
  •  Coordinate with potential speakers to gather additional information, such as biographies, presentation topics, and multimedia materials.

Engagement and Communication:

  •  Initiate and maintain communication with potential speakers, providing them with relevant information about the conference and addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  •  Build and nurture relationships with speakers, fostering a positive and collaborative environment throughout the curation process.
  •  Serve as the primary point of contact for speakers, managing correspondence, scheduling, and logistics related to their participation in the event.

Logistics and Coordination:

  •  Work closely with the event management team to coordinate the logistical aspects of speaker participation, including travel arrangements, accommodations, and technical requirements.
  •  Ensure that all necessary agreements, contracts, and release forms are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with organizational policies.
  •  Provide support and assistance to speakers throughout their involvement with the conference, addressing any issues or challenges that may arise.

Post-Event Follow-Up:

  •  Gather feedback from speakers following their participation in the conference, soliciting suggestions for improvement and insights into their experience.
  •  Compile and analyze data related to speaker performance, audience engagement, and overall impact to inform future speaker selection and curation efforts.
  •  Document best practices, lessons learned, and other insights to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the speaker research and curation process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, marketing, business, humanities) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in research, talent scouting, event management, or a related field, preferably with a focus on speaker selection or curation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with speakers, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in using online research tools, databases, and productivity software (e.g., Google Suite, Microsoft Office) to gather and manage information.
  • Knowledge of TEDx guidelines, standards, and best practices preferred.
  • Passion for ideas worth spreading and a commitment to the mission and values of TEDx.
