Prof Ukertor Moti appointed Chief Editor of African Public Administration Journal

Dean of School of Postgraduate Studies, University of Abuja, Professor Ukertor Gabriel Moti has been appointed as Chief Editor of the African Journal of Public Administration and Management (AJPAM).

AJPAM is the continental Journal of the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) based in Nairobi, Kenya.

A letter signed by the Secretary General of AAPAM, Dr. George K. Scott, said the appointment is for a 1 term of 3 years effective April 2023 and renewable for 2 terms.

Prof Moti is also a member of the Editorial Boards of NATIONAL ACCORD (the Abuja-based online newspaper) and FRONTVIEW AFRICA (the bilingual online news platform published and updated simultaneously in Abuja and Lome).

By that appointment, Prof Moti became the first Nigerian and the second African to be admitted into the CMC-Global Academic Fellowship.

According to the letter by the AAPAM, Professor Moti will work with a team of 7 editors from Kenya, Uganda, Egypt, Cameroun and South Africa. Professor Moti succeeds Professor Malcolm Wallice of the University of Pretoria.

By his new appointment as Chief Editor, Professor Moti will also serve as member of the AAPAM Governing Council.

As Chief Editor, Prof Moti and his team will be responsible for reviewing of the guide to contributors document with submission process effective; development of selection criteria and scoring sheet to process; guiding the thee selection for the Journal edition; assessment of submitted manuscripts for the journal and; reviewing of papers for Roundtable conference papers using agreed scoring guidelines once a year.

His other responsibilities include the development of reports highlighting key issues and recommendation; recommendation of areas of improvement for the journal; participation in at least 2 meetings to discuss with editors on the progress on paper selection and; support to quality control of the journal, checking every issue before its release.

Ukertor Gabriel Moti who is Professor of Public Sector Management and Governance and Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies recently became a Maxwell Leadership Certified Team Member licensed to provide facilitation in Speaking, Coaching, and Training on approved Maxwell Leadership and Professional Development content as an International Leadership Expert, Speaker and Trainer. 

Commenting on the new appointment, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of NATIONAL ACCORD and FRONTVIEW AFRICA, Mr. Tom Chiahemen, said, “for our own Professor Moti, it has been a harvest of appointments in recent times. Indeed, I would say that the last decade was a season for national and international recognitions.

“I recall that in October 2022, he was conferred with the CMC-Global Academic Fellow by the Board and the Academic Fellow Panel of the ICMCI (also known as CMC-Global), which is the international Management Consulting professional body, comprised of individual country-based, member, Institutes of Management Consulting (IMCs). It came barely one year after his appointment as member of the Accreditation Committee (AC) of the International Commission of Public Administration Education and Training (ICAPA), which we all celebrated with him not long ago. We at NATIONAL ACCORD and FRONTVIEW AFRIACA are indeed very proud and happy with his growing list of accomplishments.”
