Police establish complaint response unit in Borno

The Borno State Command has established a Complaint Response Unit (CRU) to enable members of the public report any perceived wrong doings by members of the Nigeria Police Force.

This is contained in a statement signed on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Borno State Command, ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth and made available to newsmen in Maiduguri.

The statement said the establishment of the unit was in compliance to the Inspector General of Police ( IGP ) directive on zero tolerance to corruption, extortion and Human Right Abuse.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police Borno State Command , CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal has opened a Complaint Response Unit (CRU) in the State Headquarters Maiduguri to enhance public confidence and accountability.

“The Complaint Response Unit (CRU) is a unit in the Nigeria Police Force, saddled with the responsibilities of receiving complaints about police officers and men (rank and file) misconduct, violations of human rights among others to ensure that police personnel are held responsible and accountable for their actions or inactions.

It urged the public to ensure that they provide necessary details of the incident and evidence on the complaints.
