As part of activities to celebrate this year’s Nigeria Independence Anniversary, a group of child prodigies and kid celebrities have concluded arrangement to hold Children for Peace Concert in Lagos.
The event which is slated for Sunday, September 23rd at the National Theatre Iganmu, Lagos with the theme ‘We are One’ is designed to bring together the best of Children band groups from different organizations and schools around the country and Lagos in particular for the purpose of propagating Nigeria’s oneness as part of the commemoration of Nigeria’s 58th Independence Anniversary.
In a release by the organizers of the concert, ‘the Children for Peace Concert is a music and entertainment event initiated by a group of child prodigies and kid celebrities led by an 11 Year old Singer, Environmentalist and Peace Advocate, Ohekuru Tony Iji aimed at bringing together children from diverse tongues, tribes and creeds for the purpose of promoting peace through music, comedy and other forms of art’
The organizers stated that the idea of bringing together the best of Children band groups from different sections of the country and Lagos in particular is to use the power of music and other forms of art to drive home the message of unity, tolerance, and peaceful co-existence among the Nigerian people in the face of many prejudices currently tearing the country apart. The statement said that the concert will provide a great opportunity for Nigerian children to add their voices to the much desired peaceful co-existence thereby imbibing the spirit of oneness among the younger generation.
‘As patriotic children and future leaders of Nigeria, it is our desire to use the platform of the concert to contribute in our little way to Nigeria’s unity’ concluded the statement.
Lined up to perform and participate at the concert are some of Nigeria’s leading kid music stars, entertainers, gospel singers and children activists etc. these include Ohekuru Tony Iji, Demilade Adepegba, Temitayo Abodunrin, Praise Emmanuel Adebayo, Joshua Akinotan, David Obama Geoman, Waris, Adeife, Misimi Isimi, Eniola Thomas, Dj Young Money etc.
