Manchester United’s behind-the-scenes reshuffle has continued with the club’s chief strategy officer leaving on Tuesday, The Athletic has revealed.

Hemen Tseayo has worked at the Premier League club since 2012, joining from the international banking organisation UniCredit Group.

It is understood the club’s CEO, Richard Arnold, informed staff of Tseayo’s departure in an email on Tuesday.

Tseayo helped list United on the New York Stock Exchange shortly after joining and in recent years has executed several refinancing transactions for the club.

He also played a pivotal role in the launch of the United Women’s team in 2018 and spoke on behalf of the club on the last investor call.

A number of important backroom staff have left Manchester United in recent weeks.

The Athletic revealed last month that Matt Judge had resigned from his position as United’s director of football negotiations.

Judge is currently working out a notice period prior to an expected departure later this year. He is not expected to play an active role in the summer transfer window.

The Athletic also broke the news that chief scout Jim Lawlor and head of global scouting Marcel Bout were exiting Old Trafford.

Arnold meanwhile replaced Ed Woodward as Manchester United’s most senior executive on February 1.

Woodward stepped down as the club’s executive vice-chairman amid the continued fallout from the much-maligned European Super League project.

Tseayo had a close relationship with Woodward, working together on broadcast rights and the European Club Association, and now is seen as a natural time to depart given the change at the top of United.

For years Tseayo, Woodward and Judge worked in adjacent offices at United’s Mayfair headquarters.

Tseayo is said to want to develop his career by finding a role with wider scope and greater executive responsibilities. His departure is described as amicable, going with the club’s best wishes.

He will remain available to United on an advisory basis as the club searches for a replacement as chief strategy officer.

John Murtough, who had worked closely with Judge, now has strategic leadership of football recruitment at the club.

He will be supported by the club’s recruitment and legal teams as the off-pitch changes continue.
