Nigeria reports 558 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths- NCDC

On Thursday, 558 new COVID-19 infections were reported in Nigeria’s 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Two more deaths from COVID-19-related complications were also reported, according to information released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday morning.

According to the center, Lagos state topped the daily infection record with 376 infections each day.

Lagos is followed by Oyo with 33, Akwa Ibom with 26, the FCT with 22, Imo with 15, Bayelsa and Ekiti with 13 apiece, according to the NCDC.

Kano had 12 instances, while Ogun had 11, Plateau had nine, Jigawa had six, Rivers had four, Zamfara had four, Edo had two, and Ebonyi had one, according to the center.

”There are no cases in today’s report from Kaduna, Nasarawa, Ondo, or Osun.

”Unfortunately, NCDC recorded two COVID-19 cases.

On Thursday, 44 people were released from various isolation centers across the country, according to the agency.

It went on to say that 164,930 recovery had been made thus far across 36 states and the FCT.

A multi-sectoral national emergency operations center, activated at Level II, continues to coordinate national response activities, according to the NCDC.

According to report, the NCDC has confirmed ten new cases of the Delta COVID-19 strain in Nigeria.

On July 27, NCDC Director-General Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu announced this at a ministerial briefing on COVID-19 in Abuja.
