The only New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) member left at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), Hon. Musa Ibrahim Abubakar, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.
This is coming just three weeks after his counterpart and member representing Toto/Gadabuke Constituency at the NSHA, Mohammed Isimbabi, dumps NNPP for APC.
Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Danladi Jatau, announced the defection during the House proceedings on Wednesday, in Lafia.
Speaker Jatau, who appreciated the lawmaker for his wise decision to join APC, assured the decamppee of his support and good working relationship.
Also speaking, the state APC Chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, who described the defection of Hon Musa as “home coming”, assured the lawmaker of equal privileges, rights and treatments in the party.
On his part, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Abubakar, said dumped NNPP due to crisis rocking the party at the national level, saying “I write to intimate you of my immediate resolution to defect from my former party, NNPP to APC in Nassarawa State.
“As a member of Nasarawa State House of Assembly and I’m duty bound to make laws that will impact on the lives of my constituents under a good framed mind but owing to the crisis in my former party aforementioned (NNPP) that has impeded me from concentration, hence the reason of my defection”

As it stands in NSHA, the rulling All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading with 12 members, while People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have 9 and the Social Democratic Party (SDP)-3 in that order
