Man Utd face huge loss on first team player as European giant targets cut-price transfer

Manchester United could make a significant loss on defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka with European giants expressing their interest in a transfer, according to new reports.

Wan-Bissaka has had a difficult season for Erik ten Hag’s side, although that has been down to injury rather than his on-pitch performances.

The 25-year-old has been limited to just 15 Premier League appearances this term for United, but has played the last four games in succession.

And while he has largely been praised for his performances, he did give away a penalty for a rash challenge on Mohamed Salah that went on to make it 2-2 against Liverpool last weekend.

Wan-Bissaka has largely filled in at left-back since his comeback, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both out injured.

Diogo Dalot, meanwhile, has been preferred in the former Crystal Palace star’s natural right-back position, and he could see his future at the club in doubt come this summer.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who claim that Serie A champions elect Inter Milan are interested in securing the defender’s services.

However, it is added that Inter chiefs are unwilling to pay over £13 million to sign Wan-Bissaka – which is half the price that they would accept to sell fellow right-back Denzel Dumfries.

United have previously been credited with an interest in the Dutch international defender, who can also play as a right wing-back if required.

But they reportedly rejected any notion of a swap deal for the defender in January, which would have seen Wan-Bissaka go the other way and join Inter. They paid £50 million to sign him from Crystal Palace in 2020.

And while it appears that the outgoing portion of that deal could be resurrected this summer, it remains to be seen whether United might go in for Dumfries or look for alternative options if Ten Hag needs to find a suitable replacement.
