Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah announced his presidential candidacy on Sunday.
In a televised statement, Dbeibah announced that he had filed his candidacy for the 2019 presidential elections.
The prime minister stated, “There will be no more conflict, and Libya will be independent and united.”
The UN-sponsored Libyan Political Dialogue Forum selected Dbeibah as Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity in February (LPDF).
As part of the LPDF’s strategy, Libya will hold general elections on December 24.
Libya’s parliament, the House of Representatives, ratified the presidential election law and the parliamentary election law in September.
