leaking roof stirs flood in Nigeria National Assembly

The Senate lobby of the Nigerian National Assembly on Tuesday has experienced an unprecedented flood as a result of leaking roof.

Rainwater had filled the area due to a leak in the building’s roof, and cleaners were fighting to get it out. According to reports, Senate President Ahmed Lawan was forced to convene plenary in the midst of a frightening circumstance.

The national assembly houses the nation’s legislature.

Some Senators were surprised as they stood watching the cleaners struggle to remove the water, wondering why the building’s roof would be leaking.

Earlier, the sum of N37 billion was budgeted for the maintenance of the complex in the 2020 budget which elicited wild reactions from the public including the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
