Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has traveled to Zambia with other African leaders to attend the State funeral of Zambia’s founding President Kenneth Kaunda, who died on June 17th. Mr Kenyatta signed a condolence book at the Agriculture Show Grounds in posh Lusaka upon his arrival.
Foreign heads of state and government have continued to visit the country in southern Africa, which served as a base for many of the region’s liberation movements.
President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi was the first to arrive, followed by Zimbabwe’s Emmerson Mnangagwa, then President Mokgweetsi Masisi of Botswana shortly after.
Former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and Namibian President Hage Geingob are also in the nation for the event, which will take place on July 7 before Kaunda’s burial.
Cyril Ramaphosa, the South African president, and Filipe Nyusi, the African Union chairperson, have also come in the land they consider their second home.
