Kenyan police killed two attackers and collected four AK rifles with 316 bullets during a battle in Wajir county, northeast Kenya.

Revealing on Wednesday, northeastern regional police chief, Rono Bunei, said, a local police reservist suspected to have gone rogue was among those murdered during the event in the Dabader area.

The second victim, according to Bunei, was not immediately recognized.

According to him, a squad was patrolling in the Dabader area of Habaswein Sub County when they encountered the gunmen, resulting in a gunfight.

Apart from the 316 bullets, police said they found 14 empty magazines, two military smoke jackets, four cellphones, and a solar panel on them.

Bunei said the region’s patrols had been beefed up in response to intermittent attacks by al-Shabaab terrorists and sympathizers.

He invited citizens to join him in addressing instability, which has hampered transportation, education, and overall development in the area.

“We must work together to guarantee that these practices that impede development are curtailed.

“It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure security,” Bunei stated.
