Jada Old Stars and the Quest to Make an Impact

It is believed that charity, no matter how small, goes a long way in making a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable in society. It is this ideology that drove Jada Old Stars to come together to help the most vulnerable in society.

Jada Old Stars is a group of old timers in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa state who have, in the past, played Football together and decided to reunite – bring back old memories and most importantly help the most vulnerable in the society.
Established in 2023, the group has reached out to a number of less privileged members of the society including some family of friends that have passed away.

This year, 4th and 5th of January 2024 to be precise, members of the group which include Engineers, medical practitioners, Construction experts, military and Paramilitary officers, Entrepreneurs, Businessmen, Public servants, and other personalities from all walks of life.

The event started with a friendly match between Jada Old Stars and Mbulo Selected All Stars which ended in a 1 – 1 draw. Members of the group came out the next day to distribute valuable items to patients at the hospitals after which they proceeded to visit families of their late friends.

Moreover, the group paid a courtesy visit to Sarkin (King) of Jada, one of the traditional rulers in the region, His Eminence, Alhaji Muritala Ardo.
The coordinator of Jada Old Stars who is also the Local Government coordinator of Coaches Association Jada Chapter, Penuel Eli expressed the group’s support for the effort made by the king to promote peace in the region. He said Football has helped divert the attention of a number of youth from doing drugs and other antisocial activities in society thereby making them a productive member of society. Reacting to this, the king expresses his unflinching support for the group’s effort to help the society.

The founder and Chairperson of the Centre for Peacebuilding Organizations(CFPO), Mohammed B. Abubakar made it known to the king that the NGO which is new in the region will join other stakeholders to promote peace in the region and the state at large.

At the end of the event, the coach, Usman Haiman Julde gave a vote of thanks to all the members of Jada Old Stars and everyone who participated to make the entire event a reality – stressing the need for everyone to continue to work together as one big family.
