Guinea’s new junta held a former minister, Tibou Kamara, for several hours after detaining him before dawn on Sunday and ransacking his residence, according to his entourage and an official statement.

Kamara served as Industry Minister and Spokesman in Alpha Conde’s government, which was deposed in a coup on September 5 in the West African country.

Kamara was brought to an unidentified place with no indication of his whereabouts.

According to the source, around ten personnel searched his residence and removed numerous stuff, including phones belonging to his entourage.

Kamara was released on Sunday afternoon, according to his entourage.

In a statement aired on state television, the ruling National Committee for Reconciliation and Development (CNRD) announced Kamara’s detention, accusing him of breaking commitments of neutrality toward the junta.
