Coalition Of Civil Society Organizations In Nigerian (COCSON) has faulted the recent corruption allegations leveled against the newly appointed Accountant General of The Federation, Anamekwe Nwabuoku by faceless and unknown media organisations.

Recall that Mr Nwabuoku was on Sunday appointed by the Federal Government to oversee the office in the absence of the suspended AGF, Ahmed Idris, who has been in the EFCC custody over alleged fraud running into N80billion.

But just recently, some unknown media house claimed that the new acting AGF has massive corruption allegations hanging on his neck and he is currently under EFCC corruption probe.

The reports added that some of the allegations against him includes the overpayment to himself in previous MDAs he served and that he allegedly acquired some properties fraudulently which had been recovered by the anti-corruption agencies.

Reacting swiftly to the media reports, The Director of Administration of COCSON, Alhaji Tijani Ali Danjuma, described the report as false and baseless, adding that the new AGF is a well accomplished civil servants, who is devoid of any corruption charges or fraudulent acts.

“While he was the Director of Finance and Accounts, DFA, at the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Nwabuoku never enriched himself with internal security funds as widely speculated by media reports”

“Proven track records from the Defense ministry have shown that Mr. Nwabuoku never compromised The Government Integrated Financial Management System, GIFMIS, to steal the salaries of Federal Government’s staff, as alleged”, Alhaji Danjuma, said in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

He added that: “We the Coalition Of Civil Society Organizations In Nigerian (COCSON) applaud the emergence of the new Accountant General of the Federation, Anamekwe Nwabuoku and we will continue to support him to achieve greater heights in all his endeavors”.

“Mr. Anamekwe Nwabuoku is the right square peg in the square hole and that people trying to malign him won’t succeed with their cheap publications which were drafted to blackmail him and detent his proven track records”.

“This claim is false, malicious and fraudulent and we will not allow this act go unpunished as we will deploy every legal means to ensure that these miscreants are brought to book” Alhaji Danjuma said in the statement.
