Green Africa enters aviation industry with low fares

Nigeria’s newest airline, Green Africa, has officially commenced its flight operations with a mission to connect more people in the country and Africa.

The Lagos-based value airline, commenced its first commercial flights on Thursday, after receiving the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

It’s first commercial flight from Lagos landed at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja with low fare of N16,500.

Green Africa’s Brand Marketing Specialist, Mrs Oyindamola Fashogbon, who disclosed this in a statement yesterday,
Fashogbon said the airline commenced its operations with an inaugural flight from Lagos to Abuja on one of the airline’s ATR 72-600s.

Fagbosho hinted that the first flights into other destinations from Lagos are scheduled to commence next weekend.

She advised intending travellers to book their flights by visiting greenafrica.com so as to enjoy low fares from N16,500.


According to Fashogbon, officials of Green Africa received passengers and several stakeholders from Lagos checked-in at the airline’s counters situated in the Alpha Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport 1 (GAT).

“The aircraft was given a special welcome to Abuja with a water canon salute as the aircraft touched down on the ramp.

“As part of the inaugural flight ceremony, customers were engaged inflight in an interactive ‘knowledge test’ session.
“Hence, three customers each won a voucher with 10kg baggage allowance for their next flight with the airline,” Fashogbon said.

She further disclosed that the inaugural flight ceremony also featured cake cutting and photo sessions with celebrities and guests, adding that on arrival in Abuja, the Founder and CEO of Green Africa, Babawande Afolabi, who addressed customers, aviation dignitaries and journalists, said the airline was on a mission to connect more people in the country and Africa.


She quoted Afolabi as assuring that the airline was ready to connect its customers to their dreams and opportunities, adding that it was what kept them going in spite of the odds over the last several years.
