The death of renowned broadcaster and former Head of BBC Africa Section, Isa Abba-Adamu, has shocked Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Abba Anwar, made this known in a statement released in Kano on Monday.

When it comes to professionalism, Ganduje hailed the late broadcaster as a man of honor and honesty who listens to both sides.

“We were taken aback when we learned of this senior journalist’s death.

“He is a true gentleman, a meticulous timekeeper, a disciplined mentor to a number of professionals around the world, and a loving parent.

“As someone who spent decades with the BBC, his professional demeanor transcended his country.

He said the legendary journalist’s death was a significant loss not only to Kano state, Nigeria, or West Africa, but also to Africa and the world media community.

“With his death, there remains a void that is difficult to fill,” he explained.

Ganduje prayed to Allah Almighty to pardon his sins, grant him paradise for his good actions, and give his family the strength to bear the loss.

He begged his relatives to always remember the deceased’s great life.

After a brief illness, the legendary journalist died in London on Sunday.

He was born in 1961 and graduated from Bayero University in 1985. Before joining the BBC Hausa Service, he worked for Kano State Television CTV 67.

He was also named to the Nigerian News Agency’s board of directors.
