Ghana’s opposition NDC elects new party officials

Ghana’s main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), elected new party officials at its 10th national delegates congress, which ended early Sunday.

Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, the party’s general secretary since 2006, ousted Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo in a landslide victory to become the new chairman.

The new chairman thanked the delegates for the trust, urging the NDC’s members and supporters to unite.

Fifi Kwetey, a former member of parliament and former transport minister, emerged as the new general secretary.

The new officials took the oath of office soon after the Electoral Commission declared the results
