Long jumper Ese Brume wins Nigeria’s first medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
On Tuesday, Brume, 25, won bronze in the women’s long jump in the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo.
She did it with a 6.97m jump, just two days after qualifying for the finals with a 6.76m jump.
Malaika Mihambo of Germany won gold over Brume with a 7.00m leap, while Brittney Reese of the United States took silver.
After a string of defeats and the disqualification of some of the country’s athletes, Brume’s victory adds to the great news for Nigeria at the Olympics.
Brume’s win gives Nigerians more reasons to celebrate.
