The Provost of Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC), College of Health Technology, Alushi, near Akwanga in Nasarawa State, Mr Isaac Dabu Kaduna, has described the 60 years old college as one of the best in the country.
Mr Kaduna, who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with journalists in his office on Friday, said the college which was established by the then Sudan United Missionary (SUM), as an auxiliary school in 1964, has trained many qualified health workers.
According to him, the college has admitted students from different parts of the country such as Enugu, Cross Rivers, Oyo, Bayelsa, Delta, Kaduna and other states and is trying secure more accreditation to expand its courses.
The provost who said the college has a total of over 300 students, is running four accredited courses such as Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW), Junior Community Health Extension Worker (J-CHEW), Professional Diploma in Health Information Management (PIM) and Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
He further disclosed that the college, is planning to build its permanent site and also enter into MoU with College of Health Technology, Keffi, which is registered with NBTE, to enable it run more courses.
The provost, who is an alumni of the school and also a lecturer since the year 2000 in the college, said since assumption as provost almost a year ago, he has built a befitting medical laboratory, introduced MLT program and so far he has hosted three accreditation teams.
“We have also build a website to enable students from any part of the country apply for admission and very soon our students will be writing exams in CBT centre” he said.
