DSS director seeks support of Borno Govt on security affairs

Borno State Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, received in a courtesy visit the newly posted State Director of Security for the Department of State Services (DSS), Borno state command, Adamu Ahmad Umar, fsi.

While delivering his remarks, the newly posted Director told the Commissioner that he was in the Ministry to register his presence and to seek for the continued support of the state government towards security affairs, noting that it is a gesture enjoyed by his predecessors, in ensuring sustainable peace and development in the State.

The Director assured that the current relative peace enjoyed in the state will be sustained under his watch.

In response, the Commissioner appreciated the DSS in the state for supporting the efforts of the BOSG towards the restoration of peace and security in the stat.

Prof Tar said, “Intelligence gathering is one of the key aspects of security architecture that cannot be neglected by the government. That is why the BOSG is working tirelessly under the leadership of Governor Babagana Zulum, in ensuring that peace and order thrive in the state”.

He added that it was against this backdrop that the nomenclature of the ministry changed from the Ministry of Information, Home Affairs and Culture to the Ministry of Information and Internal Security,
“The Internal Security component is an addition to the existing mandates of the ministry.” He added.

The Commissioner, further, assured that the state government would support projects of the DSS, which is in line with the 25 year Development Plan of the State, while also soliciting for the support of the DSS in the implementation of the Borno Model, a non- kinetic approach to deradicalization and reintegration of Ex-Combatants, and supporting the government in ensuring general security in the state.

The new Director DSS was accompanied by his Deputy Director of Administration and Logistics, Iliyasu Sani; Deputy Director of Operation Musa Sambo Muhammad; and the Deputy Director Security Enforcement, Hassan Musa Amshi.

Highlights of the courtesy visit were presentation of an award to the Honourable Commissioner by the State Director DSS, Borno State and group photographs.
