The Czech Republic government in Prague have on Monday decided that people whose homes were damaged when a tornado struck in the south-eastern Czech Republic last week would be eligible to about 80,000 euros (95,480 dollars) in aid as well as a cheap loan worth about 120,000 euros.

Businesses and people in the agricultural industries will also be eligible for support, according to regional development minister Klara Dostalova.

During the incident six people, including a two-year-old, died and there were over 200 injuries.

The Health Minister, Adam Vojtech also sent a medical team to the region to help exhausted aid workers.

Clean-up work after the tornado has resulted in further injuries.

The tornado tore a 500-metre-wide gash into the countryside that stretches for 26 kilometres.

About 1,200 homes were damaged across seven communities.

Clean-up work has kept hundreds of firefighters, soldiers and volunteers busy since then.

Thousands of homes also remain without electricity.
