In July, demand for labour decreased by 6% while job search activity showed no significant change, new data from job search specialists CareerJunction shows. The group’s CJI settled at 94 index points, indicating increased competition in the job search market.
The CareerJunction Index (CJI) represents online labour dynamics in the country by providing a detailed analysis of the relative ratio of supply and demand in the online job market.
It is based on the analysis of data gathered from the CareerJunction website – where around 3,000 of the country’s top recruiters advertise their positions to millions of registered job seekers.
The latest research shows that the following occupational fields are currently the most sought-after skill sets in the job market:
- Software Development: Demand for software developers has been growing over the past few months. Year on year recruitment activity increased by 33%.
- Middle/Department Management: Managerial skills remain high in demand. Since January, recruitment activity for middle/department managers grew by 18%.
- Representative/Sales Consultants: Sales consultants remain highly demanded in the local labour market despite a fluctuating trend in recruitment activity. Recruitment activity for sales consultants grew by 22% year on year.

Top employment sectors
Significant online demand indicates positive employment trends, CareerJunction said.
The most recent online hiring activity identified the following five sectors that show promising employment prospects: information technology, architecture and engineering, sales, business & management, and manufacturing & assembly.
Supply and demand
An overview of vacancy levels across various sectors provides a good indication of where most employment takes place.
According to CareerJunction, the IT, business & management and finance sectors are undoubtedly the most sought-after sectors, followed by the sales, admin, office & support and architecture & engineering sectors, among others listed.
When looking at active job seekers across various sectors, areas of high supply correlate closely to areas of high demand. However, supply outstrips demand in some areas, leading to a competitive environment for job seekers, CareerJunction said.
