NFF Secretary General, Mohammed Sanusi

The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Nigeria (COCSON) has faulted the calls for the removal of Dr. Mohammed Sanusi; the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over alleged corruption and mismanagement of funds.

This is contained in a statement jointly signed by The National President, Comrade Ikechukwu Chukwunyere and National Secretary, Honourable Olayemi Success, on Friday in Abuja.

The statement said: “Recently, we received some call from some of our member Organizations calling for civil actions against Dr. Mohammed Sanusi; the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on allegations of corruption and mismanagement, as usual we embark on fact finding so that we will act responsibly and the followings are the summary of our findings.

“The General Secretary of NFF is a Professional and thoroughbred Football Administrator that is ready to do the right thing for the betterment of Nigeria Football, our enquries show that the General Secretary is not corrupt as he has been at various times also investigated by some anti corruption agencies including EFCC and has been giving clean health bill on all the allegations.

“Furthermore, Nigeria Football League is taking new shape under his Management as Referees and other March officials and been paid promptly and adequately leaving no room for any inducement and this is reflecting in the standard of our marches recently.

The Coalition called on all the detractors to stop the mischief and allow the Leadership of the NFF to be focus and continue the good job they are doing for Nigerians as the umbrella body of the Civil Society is solidly in solidarity with the Managers of the NFF.

“Finally, we hereby use this opportunity to remind all our member Organizations, the Media and others that have been invited to our VIOLENCE FREE ELECTION AND ACCURATE REPORTAGE Program coming up on 21-22 February 2023 in Abuja that the event still holds as planned”, the statement said.
