Commuters around Zuma rock along Abuja-Kaduna highway, in Niger state on Tuesday night ran for their lives as Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers opened fire on them.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place around nine p.m ,
The incident caused a massive traffic jam as vehicle owners tried to either make u-turns or reverse their vehicles as the unknown gunmen continued shooting for more than twenty minutes.
The attack forced hundreds of the commuters to take refuge around Zuma estate, which had been converted to a police barrack. An eye witnessed told our correspondent that security men in plain clothes were later sighted heading towards the direction where the gunmen laid the siege.
It could be recalled that a similar incident took place last month at the same area where about 20 persons were abducted and taken into the bush.
Some of them were held in captivity for days before regaining freedom after paying ransom.
The Police are yet to react to the incident
