Botswana suspends Health assistant minister for breaking Covid rule

After breaking Covid-19 guidelines, Botswana’s Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Sethomo Lelatisitswe, has been suspended from his ministerial duties.

In a statement, President Mokgweetsi Masisi’s press secretary, Batlhalefi Leagajang, alleged Lelatisitswe was involved in a family gathering for a tombstone unveiling, which violated the Emergency Powers (Covid-19) Regulations of 2020.

Except for the Cabinet, National Assembly, Council, National Task Force, religious organizations, and funerals, all gatherings have been halted.

Meanwhile, the country asked inhabitants to continue adhering to health rules and restrictions in order to aid in the fight against the global pandemic, which has claimed the lives of millions in the country.
