Borno lawmaker trains youths on skills acquisition, distributes motorcycles to constituents

The member representing Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency, Dr. Midala Usman Balami, has distributed brand new motorcycles to 25 youths across the constituency as empowerment, in addition to training of 40 youths on entrepreneurship, so as to make them economically self-reliant in the society.

The distribution took place at during a town hall meeting held in Marama town of Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State, was the second of its kind after the maiden engagement that took place about three months ago.

Themed, ‘Legislative Leadership: Strengthening Legislative- Community Nexus’, the lawmaker had a robust people- centred discussions where he gave ample room to both stakeholders and community members to have free, open and result- oriented deliberations.

Areas of deliberations include: education, security, infrastructure, agriculture, women and youths empowerment to peaceful coexistence, among many other critical issues of pressing importance.

His words: “Legislative-community relations must be strengthened in order to foster lasting partnership with all our constituents. This I hope to entrench as a legislative culture or tradition for the sustainable development of our communities, as this is one of my many initiatives to propel our constituency to a higher pedestal as we factor in the need for peaceful coexistence and unity across Askira-Uba/ Hawul Federal Constituency. Dr. Balami stated.

While highlighting about one year of his stewardship report, the lawmaker said, “he will continue to consolidate on his achievements which cut across empowerment, educational scholarship, provision of agricultural inputs such as modern farm implements and fertilizers, distribution of food and non-food palliatives among others too numerous to mention.

The meeting was followed by rigorous questions and answers session with the audience, which resulted into sound feedback from the Lawmaker and the stakeholders.

In a related development, the Federal lawmaker, also empowered 25 community members, mostly youths from his constituency with brand new motorcycles and some undisclosed amount of money to many people in the constituency.

13 beneficiaries of the motorcycles were from Askira-Uba, while 12 beneficiaries were from Hawul.

While unveiling the distribution and handing over of the motorcycles which took place at Yirmishika Central Primary school in Hawul Council area, the lawmaker encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the gesture especially during the forthcoming rainy season for farming and other allied purposes in order to give them food security and sufficiency.

“These motorcycles I believe can support you as hardworking farmers, by enabling smooth transportation of persons and your farm products. I also implore you please to ensure good use of it. This is just the beginning as many supports of this kind and different others are on the way by God grace”. Balami said.

Appreciating the lawmaker on behalf of the beneficiaries, Isa Kuffa said,” We sincerely appreciate our leader, Dr. Midala Usman Balami for his usual concern and support to our people. These motorcycles will help us in many ways; farming, commercial transportation, and even ease of doing business in our various communities”.
