The Benue State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has amicably resolved its three years old crisis with the desire to forget the past and move the union forward.
The three year old crisis was resolved by the intervention of the Benue State Governor though his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communications, Mr. Solomon Iorpev.
In a state Congress of the union held at the NUJ House Makurdi, which was massively attended by members, the Governor through aide, informed members of the benefits of having a united house and urged all aggrieved members to sheathe their swords.
He appealed to all members of the union to forget the past, insisting also that all court cases be withdrawn to enable the Benue State Council of the union move forward.
Reacting to the call by the Governor through the Adviser, one of the principal actors, Mr. Vincent Nyinongo, who was the Chairman of the faction, appreciated the efforts of the government and voluntarily stepped down for peace to reign.
Following the stepping down of Nyinongo, the congress unanimously called for fresh elections into the various positions in the union.
The members unanimously nominated a seven member committee to serve as Caretaker and credentials committee to run the affairs of the union and conduct fresh elections in the next three months.
The caretaker and credentials committee has Mr. Vincent Nyinongo of State Information Chapel as its Chairman.
