Benue State deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu on Friday called the National Boundary Commission to hasten the demarcation of the Benue/Ebonyi inter-state boundary to end the bloody clashes along the Agila/Ngbo axis
Engr. Abounu said the conflict in the area has caused the death of so many people and the dislocation of socio-economic activities and stated that the state government will give all its support to the Commissionto enable it demarcate the boundary.
He spoke while receieving a delegation of the Commission led by the North Central zone representative on the Board, Alhaji Mohammed Liman in his office in Makurdi.
Engr. Abounu lamented that apart from the Benue/Ebony crisis, there are the Benue /Taraba and the Benue/Cross River inter-state boundary disputes that also need the urgent intervention of the Commission.
He disclosed that the state which shares an international boundary with Cameroon and is presently hosting many Cameroonian refugees, need the support and cooperation of the Commission to overcome some of the security challenges it is facing.
Earlier, Alhaji Liman had said the team is in Benue to meet critical stakeholders and have frank discussions on areas where there are boundary disputes as well as find ways of resolving such disputes.
