Arsenal FC manager, Mikel Arteta, has stated that the club will not sell captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if he becomes a Manchester City target.

The Gunners meet the reigning Premier League winners on Saturday, with City manager Pep Guardiola looking to recruit a striker before the transfer window closes.

Harry Kane, the Tottenham and England forward, signed a contract with Spurs on Wednesday, ending a summer-long saga.

City have been linked with a deal for Cristiano Ronaldo, while Aubameyang remains a possibility.

The 32-year-old shone in his first start of the season, scoring a hat-trick in a 6-0 thrashing of West Brom in the League Cup second round.

Despite a dismal season in 2020/2021, Aubameyang has a great record in England, and Arteta wants to keep the man who signed a new three-year contract last September.

When asked if he was concerned about City making a play for Aubameyang, he said, “I don’t know.” Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a key player for us, and he will continue to play for us.”

So far this summer, Arsenal has spent more on new players than any other Premier League team.

Arteta confesses he is unclear whether the club would be able to turn down a strong enough offer for any of the players.
