APC: Buhari appoints Tinubu to reconcile aggrieved members ahead of 2019

As part of on-going efforts to improve cohesion within the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari has designated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead the consultation, reconciliation and confidence building efforts.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity, Garba Shehu, made this known in a terse statement he issued in Abuja on Tuesday.

Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, is also the National Leader of the ruling APC.

According to Shehu, “the assignment will involve resolving disagreements among party members, party leadership and political office holders in some states of the Federation.”

The development is seen as a fresh move at consolidating the APC ahead of next year’s general elections in the country.

It comes at a time many key members of the ruling party are said to be making moves to join either the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or one of the nascent coalition movements, including the one being facilitated by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
