Algerian forces kill 2 “terrorists” near southern border

Algerian counterterrorism troops on Saturday killed two “terrorists” near the southern border of the country, said a statement of the Ministry of National Defense.

“As part of counterterrorism and thanks to the efficient exploitation of the intelligence, detachments of the armed forces killed two terrorists, injured and arrested two others during an ambush carried out on Saturday,” the ministry statement said.

The troops also seized heavy weapons such as machine guns and other items, it added.

Despite improvement in the security situation in Algeria compared to the 1990s, clashes have continued to break out sporadically between armed forces and terrorists, especially in the eastern and southernmost regions of the North African country
