New acting ceo

Access Holdings’ acting CEO: Access Holdings Plc has recently undergone a significant leadership change, appointing Ms. Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer following the unfortunate passing of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, the former Group Chief Executive Officer.

The announcement was communicated in a notification to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), and the appointment is contingent upon approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Ms. Agbede, before her new role, held the position of the company’s most senior founding Executive Director in charge of Business Support. Her appointment reflects the company’s strategic decision during this transitional phase and the need for stable leadership.

The official statement released by the Board of Directors on February 11, 2024, emphasized, “The appointment is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.” This highlights the procedural aspect of executive appointments within the regulatory framework.

Ms. Agbede brings nearly thirty years of professional experience to her new role, with a diverse background in banking and business consultancy services. Her journey in the industry began in 1992 at Guaranty Trust Bank, where she steadily climbed the corporate ladder to managerial positions by 2001. Subsequently, she took on the role of Chief Executive Officer at JKG Limited, a business consulting firm, in 2003.

Joining Access Bank in the same year, Ms. Agbede served as an Assistant General Manager responsible for managing the bank’s portfolio of chemical trading companies. Her leadership capabilities and strategic insight were evident as she assumed the position of the Bank’s Head, Group Human Resources between 2010 and 2022.

Continuing to excel in various capacities, Ms. Agbede was appointed Access Holdings Plc’s founding Executive Director, Business Support, in 2022. In this role, she played a pivotal part in successfully integrating business units and transforming the company’s culture, showcasing her ability to contribute to organizational growth.

Ms. Agbede’s academic achievements further underscore her qualifications for the role, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lagos and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Cranfield University UK in 2002. Her professional affiliations include membership in the Chartered Institute of Management UK and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.

With her extensive background and experience, Ms. Bolaji Agbede is expected to lead Access Holdings Plc through this challenging period and contribute to the company’s ongoing success, bringing a unique blend of expertise and strategic acumen to the forefront.
